    About Us

    With over 20 years' experience, the management of Airedale Nursing Home pride ourselves on offering a highly professional care service for the elderly, with a personal touch. We are pleased to accept residents for long term, short term for convalescence and holiday stays.
    When people have worked hard throughout their life and have been committed to helping others, we think they deserve extra cherishing. They need a home where individuality is emphasised, with staff who have time to give attention to small detail, and where they have the choice of enjoying the company of like-minded fellow residents.
    It is our objective to provide care to all residents to a standard of excellence, which embraces fundamental principles of good care practice, conduct and control of quality care in the home. It is a fundamental ethos that those residents who live in the home should be able to do so in accordance with the home's Statement of Values.
    It is our objective that all residents shall live in a clean and safe environment and be treated with respect and sensitivity to their individual needs and abilities. Staff will be responsive to the individual needs of residents and will provide the appropriate degree of care to assure the highest possible quality of life within the home.
    The home is within walking distance of any bus that stops in Bedford town centre and is on the route of some local bus services. There is limited off-road parking and unrestricted parking on the road outside the home.
    The home is committed to infection control. Through the provision of equipment and training and performing best practice the home strives to control the risk and spread of infection, not only for its residents; but also for its staff and visitors.
    To meet the resident's needs the care service within the home is designed to achieve the following objectives:
    All care staff within the home will be appropriately qualified to deliver the highest standards of care. A continuous staff-training programme is implemented to ensure that these high standards are maintained in line with the latest initiatives and developments in care practices as may be laid down in appropriate legislation, and registration authority guidelines.

    General Facilities

    Airedale Nursing Home is a care home for the elderly. We aim to provide all the necessary care and attention within a secure and caring atmosphere. Our home provides nursing care for 57 people. The home has 45 single and 6 double bedrooms. 54 beds are on ground level and first floor level, 3 beds are on lower ground floor level.

    The home is extremely bright, spacious and airy and is maintained to the highest standard. The rooms are decorated in a mix of styles to cater for all tastes. The Park Avenue wing is decorated in pastel shades with traditional soft furnishings and the St Alban wing is decorated with vibrant colours and stylish soft furnishing. All materials and furniture are fire retardant. Choice of room is subject to availability.

    As infection control is of prime importance to us we do not provide bath facilities. As an alternative we have ensuite showers with 4 additional communal w.c's and showers.
    Nurse call systems are fitted in all bedrooms along with T.V. and telephone points.
    Qualified nurses are on duty 24 hours a day, plus care staff, one of whom has level 3 NVQ and others who have level 2.
    All Residents' needs are met in a friendly and efficient way, we strive to preserve and maintain their dignity, individuality and privacy. We are always sensitive to ever changing needs.
    A wide range of activities are organised by staff on a daily basis, residents are also encouraged to pursue their own hobbies and interests.
    Friends and relatives are welcome to visit at any time on any day.
    We aim to make every residents' stay as homely and comfortable as possible.
    • To deliver a service of the highest quality that will improve and sustain the resident's overall quality of life. In this respect the care service is designed to meet the requirements of a recognised accredited quality standard, but in a people oriented fashion.
    • To ensure the care service is delivered flexibly, attentively, and in a non-discriminatory way, while respecting each residents' right to independence, privacy, dignity, fulfilment and the right to make informed choices and to take risks.
    • To ensure that each resident's needs and values are respected in matters of religion, culture, race or ethnic origin, sexuality and sexual orientation, political, affiliation, marital status, parenthood and disabilities or impairments.
    • To ensure that the care service in whole is delivered in accordance with agreed contracts of care.
    • To manage and implement a formal programme of staff planning, selection, recruitment, training and personal development to enable residents' needs to be met.
    • To manage the care service efficiently and effectively to make the best use of resources and to maximise value for money for the resident.
    • To ensure all residents, relatives, visitors and staff receive written information on the homes procedure for handling complaints, comments and compliments and how to use it.
    We aim to provide residents with a secure, relaxed and homely environment in which their care, well-being and comfort are of prime importance.
    Carers will strive to preserve and maintain the dignity, individuality and privacy of all residents within a warm and caring atmosphere, and in doing so will be sensitive to the residents' ever changing needs. Such needs may be medical/therapeutic (for physical and mental welfare), cultural, psychological, spiritual, emotional and social, and residents are encouraged to participate in the developments of their individual care plans in which the involvement of family and friends may be appropriate and is greatly valued.
    This will be achieved through programmes of activities designed to encourage mental alertness, self-esteem and social interaction with other Residents and with recognition of the following core values of care which are fundamental to the philosophy of our home.
    The requirements in the National Minimum Standards for shower rooms and communal space are met or exceeded.
